News: More Brains In A Snow Man!
The
temperatures are freezing, the snow is
falling and people all around the country
are complaining that footpaths are treacherous
because of the ice, so what do our public
servants do?
They
send out 'litter collectors', with their
little carts and litter pick-up stick. It
never occurred to them that you can't see
the road or footpath, you won't be able to
spot the litter and if you can't spot the
litter you can't pick it up.
In such
poor weather conditions, it might have
been a good festive gesture to have given
these hard working personnel a few days
off or perhaps their carts could have been
loaded with grit and they could have been
asked to grit outside local shops where
the ice has become dangerous.
Users
will know from previous stories that the
road service is responsible for gritting
the roads although there is no statutory
duty, the council is responsible for the
footpaths and the council is also
responsible for litter and refuse. So,
whatever your complaint, you know who to
blame.
Perhaps
if you are contacting Belfast City
Council, you may wish to tell them, that
if they can't see the fag butts on the
ground outside City Hall, then their
litter patrols won't be able to see them
either and if you can't see them, you
can't pick them up!
