News Editorial: Lib Dems Get Too Liberal
The BBC has broke the news that the coalition government is set to introduce legislation which would permit 'Gay Marriages' in Christian Churches.
The legislation which is expected to be tabled by Equalities Minister Lynne Featherstone, would propose lifting the ban on civil partnerships taking place in religious settings, across both England and Wales. The proposed legislation would cover all places of worship including Christian Churches who perceive the act of homosexuality as an abomination, synagogues despite
Hebrew teaching and mosques despite homosexuality being forbidden under
Islamic teaching and where homosexuals people live in fear for their lives.
At present same sex marriages in the UK are not legal, but powers introduced in 2005 gave gay couples legal protection through civil partnerships. The new proposals are reported to hold no plans to compel religious organisations to hold ceremonies but given the salami
tactics of past governments it may not be long before churches are under a compulsion. The motives of
those introducing such policies should be questioned, with the 'charge on the religious faith' of others being lead by the Lib Dems, a party being lead by a man who doesn't even believe there is a God.
The policy is currently opposed by the Church of England, Roman Catholic Church, The Jewish Faith, The Islamic Faith, Pentecostal Christian Churches and
Evangelical Churches, so where does this proposed new law, find its friends, in the House of Commons, where morality, honesty and
Integrity have never been the highest of priorities.
On the whole the homosexual community do not wish to take vows in a church that preaches against their life style, nor do they wish to attend such churches on a weekly basis in order to be part of their fellowship, so is there anything to fear from these proposals. Yes, for as we have so often seen in the past,
idle hands do the devil's work and when
Westminster has nothing better to do or wishes to distract the public from
focusing on other bad news, they release controversial
policies.
Is the policy big enough, for you to find out how
your MP will vote on this Bill and for you to do something about it?
