The property, which is a fascinating piece of East Belfast heritage must have been very impressive in its day. It now appears to stand as a monument to the disregard, the Northern Ireland Assembly has for our national heritage. On one hand, it is all systems go for the Titanic Centenary Celebrations and on the other, the real heritage pertaining to Titanic and Harland & Wolff is going to the dogs. |

It is a huge mistake for the Northern Ireland Assembly to attempt to sell this building at a six and a half million pound loss (£6,500,000), rather than waiting for the market to recover. It is the view of Simply Belfast, that should the sale proceed and the public purse suffer such a loss that those involved in its sale, should be surcharged for that loss. Until then, this house belongs to the public and to East Belfast, so why not book a visit to view the Ormiston House Estate.
