NI News: Scarva
13th July 2010
In the year when the Orange Order rebranded its event 'Orange Fest', it was reported in the Belfast News Letter that in excess of 100,000 people decended on Scarva for the annual 13th July Royal Black Institution event.
With poor weather forecasts the day could have been a wash out, but the rains stayed away and the weather on the whole was pleasant, with families picniking in the fields. The small village once again came alive to bussling crowds, a wide range of stalls and cultural events in 'the field' of the Royal Black Presbyertry.
This year also saw many visitors from overseas, with the USA heavily represented and the parade itself had bands from the mainland: 2 Scottish bands (Blackskull from Glasgow & Shieldshill from Lanarkshire).
